Congratulations to our Bayside Mixed Section 5 team and our WDTA Men’s B Special 2 team who won their respective Grand Finals on the weekend. Both teams come from 2nd on the ladder a beat their more fancied opponents in the Grand Final.
Bayside Mixed Section 5 – MCC Glen Iris Valley 2-5-50 def Clarinda 2-5-41. Well done to Stephen Trafficante, Judy Harrison, Heather Hickey, Bernie Daly and Elena Daly on a fantastic season.
WDTA Men’s B Special 2 – MCC Glen Iris Valley 3-7-56 defeated Glen Waverley U/C 1-3-44. Well done to Rod Paterson, Jeremy Broadbent, Bill Jordan, David Paton and Peter Gillieron on a great season.
Unfortunately our WDTA Open B Special 1 S/D team were unsuccessful in their Grand Final, losing convincingly to the undefeated East Burwood team. Well done to Andrew James, Geoff Shallue and Ross Johnson on making the Grand Final.
Our men’s Grade 5 team has another fantastic win and has now advanced to the semi finals. MCC Glen Iris Valley 3-7-66 defeated Dendy Park 3-6-56. After splitting the doubles matches, Lewis Freeman and Stephen Swann won in straight sets to ensure the victory. Ben Spencer and Tom Halbert lost their singles in 3 tight sets which helped the team get the advantage. Well done to the boys and best of luck to the team this week. On a side note, Angelo has promised bronze statues of each of the players which will be put out the front of the club if they are to go all the way. Angelo is starting to get very nervous!!
