Tennis Victoria’s Pennant competition is the largest interclub representative competition in the country with over 3500 junior and adult players representing 150 clubs. Tennis Victoria Pennant is played during the winter season (April – August) and is played over 14 weeks plus finals. Play begins at 9am on a Saturday morning for Women and at 1pm on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon for Men (Sunday afternoon also Women’s teams available).
The competition is played over 14 or 15 weeks. In eight-team sections, each team plays each other twice over 14 weeks, and in six-team sections teams play each other three times over 15 weeks.
For 2021, our Men’s and Women’s leagues will see a trial change in the format as an adaption to the uncertainty of the pandemic. Instead of singles one week and doubles the next, singles and doubles will be played each week, adopting a similar format as Tennis Victoria’s Associations Junior League. Two eight-game sets will be played for both doubles rubbers, followed by four singles rubbers, played in a best-of-two set format, with a ten-point match tiebreaker instead of a full third.
The cost to play pennant for the season is $50 per player and you can register to play via the following form. This fee covers balls for the season and team registration. Each player is also required to be a member of the club.
