downloadNine teams will head into finals this weekend!

Another great home & away winter season has come to an end and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the players and parents who have played or helped out during the season. Before the summer season starts on October 14th, the current season still has a finals series to play and MCC Glen Iris will be represented by 9 of our junior teams, 3 rubbers, and 6 triples. All teams have been entered for the upcoming summer

All teams have been entered for the upcoming summer competition season, and we will have a club record 25 teams competing. All rosters and teams will be emailed to all players in late September. If anyone is still wanting a spot in a team, please contact Angelo as there is only a few spots left.

Finals matches for this weekend

Below is a summary for the finals matches this weekend:

RUBBERS:

  • B Special 1: The first season that Jack, Daniel, and Nathan have played together. The boys just snuck in by half a point after winning their last round convincingly. They have finished 4th on the ladder which is a great effort.
Semi Final: Away match Vs Nottinghill Pinewood (Green)
  • B Special 2 (Blue): A great end of the season by Arielle and Magdalena saw them win their last 5 matches of the season to storm into second place on the ladder. This is 4th season in a row that the girls have played with each other so they are very much looking forward to their first finals appearance.
Semi Final: Home match Vs Legend Park
  • B Special 3: This is Daniel and Oliver’s first season in rubbers after moving up from triples. The boys have had a great season finishing third on the ladder and narrowly missing out on a home final.
Semi Final: Away match Vs Glen Waverley

TRIPLES:

  • C Grade 3: Andy, Liam, and Archit have had an impressive season considering they had moved up 5 grades from the previous winter season. The boys have put on a masterclass finishing first on the ladder and hardly dropping a match.
Semi Final: Home Match Vs Springvale Nth (Green)
  • D Grade 1: Adam, Thomas, and George have had a wonderful season only losing 2 matches to the team that is on top, Syndal. The boys are looking forward to the finals series to hopefully get another crack at the top team.
Semi Final: Home match Vs Burwood
  • D Grade 3: Charlotte, Alice, and Lucas have teamed up for the first time and have just made it into 4th spot. Another one of our 3 player teams, the guys are hoping their team chemistry can help them pull through and knock over the top team this weekend.
Semi Final: Away match Vs Springvale Nth
  • D Grade 4: In this section, both our teams will square off in this weeks semi final. Not only will both our teams play against each other but siblings Angeliki and Teli will also play against each other in a family affair. Declan, Teli, Emily, and Olivia will take on Angeliki, Shin Yi and Sophia. Best of luck to both teams.
    Semi Final: Home match
  • D Grade 6: One of our teams who has had their first season in the junior competition, Tanna, Vincent, Roger, and Georgia have had a wonderful season finishing 2nd on the ladder. The team has shown amazing sportsmanship and teamwork during the entire season. We wish them all the best in the upcoming finals series.
