Can our men go back to back to back?

This weekend will see our men’s team battle Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club for the 2019 Premier League title. It has been an extremely competitive season with many of Australia’s best tennis players represented in the home & away matches.

Our men’s team finished the home and away season undefeated, on top of the men’s ladder. This Saturday will see them take on Kooyong Lawn at MCC Glen Iris from 12.30 pm.

Doubles matches will be up first and shape as a pivotal battle to take control of the day. The likely matchups look like this;

Alex Bolt will pair with Matt Reid for MCC Glen Iris. Alex has been a quarter-finalist in the Australian Open doubles and ranked as high at 81 in the world, while Matt is currently ranked 91 in the world. They will likely match up against Marc Polemans and Andrew Whittington who pair together to make the semi-finals of the Australian Open back in 2017.

At number 2 doubles, MCC Glen Iris will have Blake Mott partner Peter Luczak. Peter is a former Davis Cup player who had a career-high world ranking of 64 while Blake has been as high as 220 on the ATP tour. There could be a few different combinations Kooyong could put up against Blake & Peter, including Greg Jones, a past top 200 player.

The singles line up will see captain Aaron Addison and club regular Lucas Vuadin enter the team. Both have been involved in our last two season victories.

Singles matches will follow the doubles and will see some great matchups.

We look forward to the weekend to see if the Men can defend their title and hope to see plenty of support from our members.
