The MCC Glen Iris Valley competition teams had a super weekend in their semi-finals, with 10 teams progressing to this weekend’s Grand Finals. Below is a summary of all the teams through to the grand final and where their matches will be held.

WDTA Juniors:

Sunday:

  • A Grade 1 (Rubbers) – Ben, Julian and Jason unfortunately were unable to complete their match due to bad weather. They will have to play their semi final again this Sunday.
    Semi Final: Away match Vs Nottinghill Pinewood
  • A Reserve 2 (Rubbers) – Daisy, Michael and William def Templeton by 2 matches to 1 in their Semi Final. After a tight doubles which went the way of the boys, William had an easy victory in his singles to claim the victory.
    Grand Final: Away match Vs East Malvern
  • B Special 3 (Rubbers) – Joshua, Felipe and Joel def Dingley by 2 matches to 1 in their semi final. After going down narrowly in the doubles, Felipe and Joel had comprehensive victories against their opponents in the singles rubbers to claim the win.
    Grand Final: Home match Vs Ashburton U/C
  • B Grade 2 (Triples) – Ryo, Tom, Matthew and Lukas had a comfortable 4 sets to 2 victory (14 games) against Chadstone in their semi final. The boys have remained undefeated all season and are extremely confident in their upcoming Grand Final.
    Grand Final: Home match Vs Wheelers Hill
  • D Special 2 (Triples) – Marnav, Aidan, Mitchell and Tom def Dandenong by 5 sets to 1 (15 games). The boys have won the last 2 premierships and are looking for the 3 peat this Sunday.
    Grand Final: Home match Vs Glendearg All Sts
  • D Special 3 (Triples) – It has been a great season for both our D Special 3 teams as they will play each other in the Grand Final this Sunday. Tom, Sarah, Sarah and Lauren will take on Liam, Andy, Archit and Ethan it what promises to be an absolute ripper of a contest. Both teams finished 1st and 2nd during the home and away season.
    Grand Final: Match played at MCC Glen Iris Valley
  • D Special 4 (Triples) – George, Andreanna and Elena def Noble community 4 sets to 2 (2 games) in their semi final. The team had a hard fought victory after finishing on top of the ladder during the home and away season. They have come close in previous seasons and are looking to go one better this Sunday.
    Grand Final: Home match Vs Springvale Nth
  • D Grade 6 (Triples) – Elijah, Vincent, Charlie and Neth def MCC Glen Iris Valley 5 sets to 1 in their semi final. The boys will now have to take on Whites Lane who have remained undefeated the entire season. After there solid training session during the week, the boys are confident they can get the job done.

WDTA Seniors:

Saturday

  • A Grade 3 – Luke, Darcy and Julian an outstanding victory beating the top team Dingley 2 matches to 1 to progress to the Grand Final. After a hard fought Doubles win, Luke claimed the no.1 singles in impressive fashion to take the win.
    Grand Final: Away match Vs Wheelers Hill
  • B Special 2 – Ross, Geoff and Andrew def Tally Ho 2 matches to 1 to progress to this Sunday’s Grand Final. After a great doubles win, Andrew got the job done in his singles to guarantee the victory.
    Grand Final: Home match Vs Dandenong
